It allows players to connect from either 2.55 or 2.60 client to same server.
I installed it on my 2.55 server but I noticed no change. The install is pretty simple 1) Replace the ETDED file 2) Adjust the start-up script to match
Im not sure what I am missing, the server still only shows up in 2.55 ladder, not the 2.60
The site says you have to install it on a 2.60 server and not on a 2.55 server.
Anyway I don't see any good in this patch. ET 2.55 is just cheaters heaven. You don't want different clients on your server. If you want to have a server for which there are manuals to cheat easily, start a 2.55 server. If you want to have a more safe server, start a 2.60 server (of course cheating is possible here too, but in a lesser extent only).
I have never owned a 2.60 server in my life. Anyway, I set up a temp 2.60 server on my desktop and got it working, but I was hoping it would show up in both ladders not just 2.55 and it seems that is the case.
I thought maybe it was a patch for 2.60 server also, but the install says...
"You need a 2.55 installation of your server Replace the original et.x86/et.exe with the patched etded.x86/etded.exe Pay attention to your start scripts to set the right target to etded.xxx instead of et.xxx!!! " Maybe I got an old patch or something.
And yes, I read that every where I go that 2.60 is better, more secure, more stable, less cheaters...etc. There is only one problem with it. Most 2.55 players I ask dont know what the hell 2.60 is. The reason why there are so many 2.55 players is because this update process is completly seperate and has to be done manually. So I predict that unless something changes, there will always be a plethora of 2.55 servers and players.
I spoke with the maker of the compatibility patch. He said it dont really matter if it is a 2.55 server or 2.60b, cos it ends up being a 2.60b server on the 2.55 master list either way. One thing he told me to do which is not in the install info was delete the mp_bin.pk3 since it is not needed (unless etmain) and interferes with the 2.60b client connecting. He also told me he is working on a way to get this patch to show up on both master lists. WOW!
hi...yes...is a good patch...that dude is amazing ..i have my little 255+ etpub server running and is displayed in both master list now (: ...all players can connect and play ... no metter if are 2.55 or 2.60 i use serverfacade (same creator as patch ) from http://equalone.hn.vc/index.php?index=1
is there 2 options whith this thing... 1) when a client conect from 2.60 list, is directly conected to server over rcon but is not good becose ingame client have server ip(no good) ..i hope he fix this soon.. 2) players are asked and redirected to server real port(whath i use ) and is perfect... so...my server is in both lists,,have real infos about players,map...etc,and is really useful,nice,cool.....
I am using 2,55+ patch now. Few seconds ago I noticed this "Server Facade v1.00 Beta (20100413)". I am hosting my server on gameservers. Is it possible to use this programme on the server machine or I need second machine and it works as "fake server" ?

hmmm....i think is not posible to run serverfacade on gameserver host ...is a new beta thing....what i see and i know is... real server and virtual server must run whit same ip ,in the same machine...the program will search only localhost for real port ... for infos in 2.60 list...is not option there to choose the real server ip...like u run serverfacade at home and he show infos from gamehost ...and make redirects there...i dont know...im a newbie,a user...mine serverfacade works perfect(same machine) maybe when serverfacade will be popular,will be on forums and redsector will fix this thing ...and windows binaries cheers sorry for my english...(:
